Water Jars and Tea Caddies are used in tea ceremony. These examples are glazed with the natural ash during the firing and the shino examples where fired in the back chamber inside saggars. The pieces in the saggars do not accumulate any ash but benefit from the firing environment especially the cycling of reduction and neutral combustion and the slow cooling to develop texture and color.
